My Photo Spread

I just thought I'd upload this to Blogger.

May 07, 2010

This week I completed my Photo Spread. I am currently completing a evaluation sheet for it. I think I did pretty good, I am proud of the finish work.It includes alot of photo's of other people, but I also have some abstract picture's as well. Let's hope Mr.Wrigley doesn't give me a bad mark !!!!!

We have finally finished our ten tips , although I have not taken all the pictures I need. I am going to do that today , and when that is done I will uploading the rest of the ten tips pictures.

We have chapter questions to do also, which I haven't started. I will most likely complete those next week because they are not as important as the other work I have to do. Speaking of, I need to do an Ad sale . I think Ad sales are dumb , and I don't think we should HAVE to do them . :(

Next week I will complete everythign that I haven't completed this week.

A little late on blog posts.

Last week was the week of April 5th, 2010. We mainly worked on our spreads, focusing on the finishing touches like captions and body copy. Unfortunetly, I'm still working on mine. It's almost done !! We were assigned another tip to photograph , and although I didn't get around to taking it last week, I am going to include it in my photography for this weeks tip. Other than that, we were given handouts on different photography concepts. One was about Composition, the other included information on being a good photographer like thinking about Lines, patterns, blurring and freezing action and having patience. Another post will come this week with my other top ten tips.

Top Ten Tips ..

Last week , our class took picture's using the first of the Top Ten Tips, which is Get down on their level. We tried many different subject's at many different heights. I picked my two favourites and edited them in Photoshop Elements. These are them.

The Next week, our tip was Use flash outdoors. My picture's are not very beautiful , or scenic because the weather hasn't been the greatest lately. But here is my favourite :

Another tip , this time it's "Lock the focus". I chose this picture because it show's depth of field, and it shows an example of a locked focus.

This picture of Briana demonstrates the tip "Move it from the middle". Instead of the subject being directly center of the picture, she is placed in the right-hand side of the picture, using the rest of the space to show what she is photographing.

This picture show's "Using a plain background". The subject is not being distracted from by the background.

This photo of my friend Kyla Aubin is an example of a "Verticle Picture"

I chose these picture's to demonstrate the "Move In Close" tip. One picture shows the texture of the artifical plant. The other is the a Korah symbol I found.

Completed Girls Basketball Spread .

For the past two weeks , we have been working on a practice spread for the yearbook. We were assigned to design a spread for the Sr. and Jr. Girls Basketball teams. There we many 'guidelines' we were supposed to follow. We were supposed to include : A Dominant Photo , drop shadow, proportional photos and sized properly, 7 or more different photos in different sizes, the Oval concept followed, , internal margins of 1 pica between items, Captions for each photo, body copy of 2-3 parahraphs 10 pt. Times New Roman, an exciting heading , credits given for photos , and all images had to be converted to CMYK, and saved to our yearbook folders. After printing them out on the color printer, We were supposed to save them as .jpg . I like my finish product, although it's not completely following the 'guidelines'. I can't wait until we get to create our own spreads , and get to add more creativity to it. I like bright colors, large text and lots of other original things.
Well , there you have it .

Another week in Yearbook ...

This week in Yearbook class we continued working on our Girls Basketball Spread. We learned how to put text and title's in our designs, and we also discovered how to create layers. Layer's help to organize your work, and make it easier to work with. My spread has examples of Feather and Drop shadow, Stroke around pictures, Gradient background and effective use of captions. It also includes a Rule line and the photo credits. I am not quite finished with my design, but it's comming together very nicely. Today we had a test to do , which wasn't all that hard.

First week in Yearbook ...

This week was the first week in Yearbook class. So far this class has been relatively fun , expect that we haven't really done much yet. The very first day, we received our course outline, and a handout on how to make a photo mosaic in Adobe InDesign. We went through each steps and created multiple boxes, all the same size. Then we rotated and distorted some of them. After that we placed a photo over it to finish the mosaic. Other than that, we haven't done much. Yesterday , the computer network was slow and not working properly, so everyone got to play Tetris. Today, on Friday, we started to design our own Girls Basketball spread. We are supposed to find at least 10 photo's we like, convert them to CMYK mode and re size them to 300 dpi. After that we're supposed to place our dominant photo in our spread design and save it.
